Stephen Sills at home in New York: A Whitewashed Beauty

Third time lucky. Interior Designer Stephens Sills’s apartment in New York city is featured in T-Magazine, has gone through the process of redecoration three times, this last one results in a neutral space furnished with different periods furniture. The New York Times Magazine called the diminutive apartment “Pale Beauty”. Although most, if not all, of the furniture in the apartment is antique or vintage, the apartment looks and feels very up-to-date. The apartment is tiny with only three rooms in total over 1,000 square feet. Evidence that no matter the size, good interior design comes in all different sizes. Most of the walls and and panelings have been bleached, limed and white washed creating a cohesive aesthetic and making the space look more spacious.  Bleached parquet floors, from Poland and sculptural furniture are used to add the drama in shape instead of volume. ” I wanted to be very Cubistic” Sills told NYT Sills has a home in Bedford, New York that I’m sure is very spacious for when he needs more space.  Stephen Sills Interior Design heroes were American Designer Albet Hadley and French Legend Henri Samuel.  Sills was born in Durant, Okla., and he attended the University of North Texas, where he received a bachelor’s degree in interior design.   Love the modern art throughout the space.

Lovely corner of the apartment.  Love the degradation of colors in neutral hues.

I love the type of crown molding Sills used throughout the apartment.

Romantic and soothing light in this room where soft upholstered furniture juxtapose with sculptures and crystal chandelier.

The bedroom is tiny but it’s very well furnished with a daybed that only occupies one side of the corridor-like room leaving space for walking freely.
