We’ve been driving south for a week now.  Our first stop was in Charleston, then Savannah and now we are in Palm Beach.  Yes, we need to learn to take shorter vacations.  When driving around PB we saw many mansions that reminded me of this home designed by David Kleinberg which I posted two years ago.  Enjoy and I’ll be back to post regularly once back home.  Hope you are enjoying the summer.

David Kleinberg Design in Palm Beach dining room

This Spanish Style home in Palm Beach, designed by David Kleinberg exudes a modern sophistication rooted in the classics that stands the test of time.  Traditional coffered ceilings take a modern turn with geometric shapes in cypress wood, in many of the graciously spacious rooms, traditional line furniture get an up-to-date feeling with shimmery and leather upholstery fabrics. David Kleinberg’s design has a great modern take on traditional Interior Design and I always get very excited to see his work.  David has worked with these clients before, so many of the furniture fit seamlessly in this new home.  There are many reasons why working with an Interior Designer is a good idea and choosing the right furniture that can be passed on though generations is one of them.  David redid the entryway by replacing the iron railing and honing the limestone floor.  The entry of this Palm Beach estate is actually my favorite part of the house for its modern interpretation of classic elements.

The entry way is a spectacular showstopper.  The graphic floor in geometry shapes is a master piece.

Jean Louis Deniot's LA home, 1930's architecture

Jean Louis Deniot’s Los Angeles home is nestled in the hills above Sunset Boulevard, and it’s a 1930’s fairy-tale.  “When the weather is nasty in Paris I jump on a plane and come to beautiful La La Land,” he told AD.  It took Deniot two years to complete the renovation of the over 2,000-square-foot home. The charming house has Tudor style exteriors, and Spanish-style interiors, many homes in L.A. share a Spanish-style interior architecture.  Jean Louis is known for his dramatic while livable interiors, but for his Los Angeles home, he kept things more on the relaxing side.

In the living room, a 17th-century Spanish chandelier hangs from a pointed vaulted ceiling.  Klismos chairs and Moroccan add to the eclecticism of the room.

I’m reposting this beautiful and elegant home, originally published seven years ago since I’m working this week in New York City.  I’ll be back on regular posting schedule next week.

Now that we’re moving into a new home, I’ve been revising my favorite homes and this one designed by J. Randall Powers is one of those.  Powers is an Interior Designer based in Houston, Texas.  One of my favorite things about this home is how none of the furniture actually relate to each other but the combination of all of them is pure genius, fresh and elegant. How is it that Elle Decor described it? “Cool and Elegant”. The first image below made the cover of Elle Decor magazine when the house was published and no wonder why… J. Randall Powers style is one that is transitionalRandall perfectly combines furniture of different styles and eras and make them look cohesive and most importantly livable. His interiors are free of excess and useless items instead they are full of comfort looking items.

This is the shot that was used in the cover of Elle Decor.  The cabinet and coffee table were designed by Powers.

Lovely composition of upholstered, bare wood and mirrored furniture.   The symmetry in the art and convex mirror brings stability to the informality of the furniture placement.

When Bunny Williams started decorating this Mediterranean-style villa in Palm Beach, there was one final goal-  the fifteen-year-old home should  “look settled, as it had always been there.”  The retired couple added a wing and re-did the pool and landscape.  Williams provided that forever look, but one that is relevant and up to date.  She brought in lots of 18th-century Italian antiques and combined them with current pieces.

Julie Paulino Design Designer Showcase Columbus, Ohio

Tonight is the opening gala of the Designer Showcase in the Columbus Museum of Art.  It’ll be lots of fun.  It will be open to the public tomorrow.  Here is a sneak peek of my space, which is the guest bedroom.  I created a room that has an eclectic yet sophisticated feel to it.  It’s full with all the things I love and have forever talked about in this blog- ikat, convex plaster mirrors, prints, canopy, etc.  I’ll do a full reveal another day when I have better photos.

Nothing can make more impact, with little expense, in a room than a fresh coat of paint.  The color green can add a touch of liveliness or on the other hand, calmness to any room in your home, from rich jewel-tones like emerald for the walls to subtle ones like light sage for pillows, there is a wide range of green tones to pick from.  Green is good for many different reasons, as I stated here.

Recently I painted our dining room with the most perfect green possible, in my opinion.  It’s a strong green; however, it’s not overwhelming.  I used Parisian Patina by Sherwin Williams, and I couldn’t be happier with the result.  Below, 10 rooms that use green beautifully.
