Month: December 2013

Is it just me, or is there something amazingly and overwhelmingly happy in the Christmas spirit?  We just came back from our son’s School Christmas presentation, and it was nothing short of watching angels singing Christmas carols.  As a designer, I can appreciate the importance of the visual, but when it comes to Christmas, I think that what you listen to is as equal if not more important than what you look at.  Christmas kettles on the streets of New York city, 106.7 repertoires of Christmas songs all day long while watching the snow coming down, the sound of chestnuts roasting on the fire, all those experiences would not evoke the same sentiment within us if there were silence.  There is no music in this post, but there are a bunch of beautiful Christmas decoration images for those of you who are still in the process of decorating and seeking inspiration for your Holiday decor. Enjoy!

It’s interesting how searching for something can lead you to something completely irrelevant.  I came across this London townhouse and thought that a living room this beautiful where neoclassical details intermingle with more classic modern furniture deserves a sharing post.  This home belongs to Angela Dunn and her husband.  If you didn’t know, then you should know how much I love sculptural furniture and this pair by Ico Parisi club chairs paired with the marble coffee table by Angelo Mangiarotti is pretty perfect to me.  Yes, because classicism is beautiful but it is way more beautiful when combined with classic modern pieces that can give a room a fully personalized look.  Enjoy!

White Christmas decor

And here we go again with a good dose of decor for the most beautiful time of the year.  I personally prefer a more colorful version of Christmas decor but I have to admit that all these images here are pretty alluring and inspiring.  This year we are not doing any decorating for the season, unfortunately.  Evidence that not because you love it does it mean you got to have it.  In our case and on my defense we are going to be traveling for the Holiday.  I only hope the Hotels would treat us with some really good decorations.  I look forward to seeing them.  And for now here a selection of White Christmas decor.

Now and then when it comes to decoration one can get to the point where enough is enough.  Anything too pretty, too perfect, too new, well, you get the point, can become dull and lifeless or make you feel you are in a cocktail bar.  On the other hand, so is the opposite because no one wants to live out of a tent on an empty lot like a nomad.  As in everything else in life, balance is one thing to keep in mind when decorating a home.  This Marbella home designed by Eduardo Dorissa which I’m sure some of you may have seen before, strikes that balance between elegance and restraint.  It’s the sort of house that everything inside and outside share a similar peace and importance.  The perfect home to get away for a few days.  Enjoy!
