Month: July 2017

Yes, this is another post about wicker bags… I just realized that even when I had posted about the “it”bag of the season sporadically, I had yet to do a roundup of this chic summer wicker bag.  As I made a reference in this post, I added one of these charming bags to my collection to bring with me to our trip to Provence, which we’ve been enjoying for the past six days and I’ve been using my cute wicker bag almost daily.  We started in Saint Tropez where we spent four days and had a great time.  We’ve been visiting Provence for the past three years and it never gets old.  It’s always exiting and inspiring to visit.  Right now we are at Uzes for the first time, enjoying this charming little town for the past two days.  Tomorrow we’ll be visiting Villenueve-les-Avignon fleamarket to see what we can find for our new home and from there we’ll be on our way to Gordes where we are spending next wek.  I know that being in such a special place as Provence where every season is to be enjoyed to the fullest, a simple summer bag is what I will wear and enjoy the most.  Regardless of where your summer takes you or keeps you, a wicker bag will undoubtedly add that chic summer essential touch to any outfit…

About a mile away from Montauk Lighthouse is the idyllic cottage setting in a magical land overlooking the Atlantic.  The home is Daniel Romualdez’s charming Montauk home and if you read the article by Vanity Fair about the home you can see why so many fashionable people love the home and praise it.   The 17-acre property consists of three saltbox cottages from the 1930’s and everything in it resembles the easy living of beach lifestyle.  The decor is simple, elegant and a bit rustic… with traditional features and details.  Blue and white upholstering… A true charming and beautiful home…

On the profile I wrote about Daniel Romualdez as one of those Interior Designers to admire, I praise his ability to deliver consistent and multifaceted design, you can see the post here.  In the Vanity Fair article he says, “If you look at my portfolio, you’d think I’m sort of schizophrenic. I go from super-minimalist to super-colorful and layered, like Tory’s. I really enjoy working both ways. And I really believe you’re only as good as your client. I’ve learned so much from working with the stylish women that I do.”

pierre sauvage paris colorful apartment bedroom belle vivir

A beautiful canopy bed in a bedroom where blue and white are the background.

When you live in Paris, you can have the luxury of choosing your next home based on the century of your preference.  A pure luxury when you are a designer professional or design aficionado.  For Pierre Sauvage and his partner, an 18th Century apartment provided all the proper features for their ideal aesthetic as opposed to an 19th Century one, which according to Pierre is perfect for a country home but not for an apartment because it may feel outdated.  ” I like classic structures and strong-looking floors, Like you see in the work of David Hicks in the ’70s,”  Says Sauvage.  And that may explain why Pierre Sauvage layered all the floors in the apartment in in different patterned rugs… a blue and red oriental-looking carpet in the bath, leopard in the library… and geometry in the dining room.  Pierre Sauvage is also the owner of Casa Lopez, a rug company and most of the rugs come from there.  The colorful apartment is featured very appropriately in the Color issue of AD’s current issue.  Blue and almost colored wood paneling reign in the apartment as a background for the sumptuous fabrics and furniture….
