Axel Vervoordt is one of the most acclaimed and recognized International Interior Designer. Many people are praising his latest featured project, Kim and Kanye’s home which is a rampant difference from Betty Gertz’s home in Dallas. I personally think that the rapper’s home is not the place I would like to raise children in. I humbly think that Axel Vervoordt’s best designs are those done before he turned so minimalist case in point, this inviting, and timeless home he designed for Betty Gertz featured back in 2015 in AD. Many of his best design elements can be seen throughout, especially the big Wabi-Sabi influence with the use of organic materials, quality craftsmanship and neutral muted tones.
Betty Gertz is a decorative-arts collector and dealer and this is the second project Gertz has completed with Axel Vervoordt. Love the different tones of the color mauve and the authentic look of the parquet floor. The pilaster framing the bookshelves are French circa-1700. In this room, we can easily see the Belgian influence of the Antwerp-born designer.
A striking contrast between the Chinese root table and the simple art. The art is by Axel Vervoordt.
Below, another view of the classic library.
In the poolhouse, Chinese porcelain sits atop plaster brackets. Gertz sits at the library’s antique architect’s desk. The house is strategically placed behind gedges and courtyard that makes it unnoticeable from the street, as you can see the property’s outer courtyard. Bougainvillea climbs the lime-painted plaster walls in a skylit gallery.
Talking about how strong and important pieces can give a room the proper weight, hence the antique Belgian secretary in the master bedroom.
An 18th-century French farm table anchors the kitchen. A black Lacanche range complements the walnut cabinetry.
The gorgeous poolhouse.
