I’m glad I accidentally went into my Instagram account the day Rodarte was presenting its SS18 collection in Paris. The beautiful and inspiring images kept amusing me for a day or two. The American brand was one of a handful of ready to wear fashion brands invited to present during Paris Haute Couture week this year. The two sisters, Kate and Laura Mulleavy presented a Spring-Summer 2018 collection inspired in part on the late 70’s movie 3 Women by Robert Altman… The models wore pastel colored playful and romantic dresses and separates embellished with embroidery, leather, touches of python, ruffles and sheer fabrics. But the most breath taking touch was the abundance of flowers that were accessorizing the models arms and heads, sort of in the form of a crown. Usually a bodega flower arrangement filler was upgraded in this amazing setting. As if the scenery wasn’t already romantic enough, the presentation was staged in the 16th-century cloister of a hospital with a French garden.
Summer season means getting away for the weekend hence we’ll need a weekender bag to pack our belongings. So why not keep it stylish while functional as well… Regardless of whether driving or flying to our weekend destination, a travel bag is just what we all need, unless you are an over-packer like me…

I’ve been professing my love and constant use of stripes for years now so I’m always looking for ways to incorporate stripes into my wardrobe. As if I don’t have enough of them… Nothing represents long summer days better than stripes… Certainly most people have one of two pieces with this classic pattern in their closets but there are so many different ways to wear stripes now a days… from long ruffled skirts to classic tunic to simple espadrilles…
I love weekends. As a matter of fact, my favorite day is Sunday…and love the idea of dressing casually chic on the weekends. Sometimes all ends up in nothing more than a failed attempt but at least I try. This stuff doesn’t come with a manual… it’s all about trying until you get to know what works for you and what doesn’t. Simple white blouses, however, seem to be one of the few clothing pieces that seem to work for all… its classic simplicity makes it easy to style and accessories. Pair a white blouse with boyfriend jeans and flats and you’ll have accomplished that perfect laid back vibe for your weekend. For an unexpected look, switch the boyfriend jeans for a pleated skirt, the flats for a pair of stilettos and you’re ready for the cocktail hour.
I’m looking for the perfect white summer dress, if such exists. Not too long, not too short, not too tight, not too cheesy…. Flowing and soft but a statement of sort, maybe some embroidery but not necessarily. One that can transition from summer afternoon walks to outdoor sunset-dining while sipping some Riesling… One with wide sleeves that would allow my arms to pass above my shoulders will be ideal…
