This year I’ve seen a lot of sequin clothes more than ever, from dresses to tops and skirts.  Sequin dresses are ideal for Christmas parties and festive occasions due to its jovial glimmery look.  If the thought of a dress is too much for you, a sequin top with a plain fabric pair of pants or skirt will do just fine.  A sequin skirt paired with a plain top will also look great.  The best part of wearing a glimmery dress is that it requires little effort on the styling side.  High heels, simple jewelry is all you’ll need.

What’s not to love about a sequined silk gown that comes with a bow, maybe the price tag… I know.  But the dress is so beautiful that it would be an investment for those who can afford it.

ski gear, winter clothes

Many people prefer to spend Christmas while skiing up in the mountains.  This year I’m determined to improve my skiing abilities by taking together with my son, local classes at a nearby ski facility.  I imagine it would be a good idea to actually be able to ski before I decide to plan a trip to Aspen.  The ski gear, however, needs no preparation or training, these are winter clothes that can be used on and off the slopes.

As chic as these ski-ready gear are, they are also great to keep you warm while walking around town, while having hot drinks at a local cafe or just enjoying the crisp sun outside.  I could use the oversized fair isle cardigan, below combined with skinny pants any day of the weekend.  These Montelliana hiker boots (further below) are just as chic as they are practical.  This other pair of leather and shearling boots are also great looking.  A stylish turtleneck fair sweater is a must for those chilly winds while skiing.  A varsity sweater like this one is a classic sport winter sweater and a waterproof insulated down parka will of course keep you warm.

loose pants, stirrup knit pants

I have recently realized that I need to put more interest on pants.  I have about three times more tops than pants and that’s got to change.  If you are like me and don’t want to look too put together on a daily basis when running errands and going about your days, however you still want to look stylish just enough, then you should aim for loose pants that look chic while still comfortable.  Don’t get me wrong I do like my skinny jeans with boots once in a while but it comes time when I want a rest from it and just feel comfortable and chic at the same time.  All these loose pants below have in common, a high-waist, elastic waistband, and soft or knit fabric.

Clockwise from top left, knit pants in a jogger silhouette with high-rise waistline.   Cozy knit sweater pants with a straight-leg silhouette.  Chino pants.  High-waisted plaid pants with bow.

The double-breasted coat is the chicest coat of the season, and Balenciaga hourglass figure coat is perhaps the most coveted one.  Here is a selection of this season’s double-breasted coats from the expensive ones to the alternative ones.

Left corner;  this red, blue, and white virgin wool tweed coat is inspired in the 70’s and is hip-length for an elegant casual look.  For a similar version, this bonded wool jacket is an option.  The second from left; the beautiful Balenciaga hourglass-shape coat is very flattering but it’s on the pricey side, this alternative trench coat doesn’t have the same shape but, it has some similar features like lapel collar, checked fabric and padded shoulders.  Another more similar version is this Pagoda one.  The red oversized tartan wool coat is very fitting for the holidays, on the other hand, is even more expensive than the Balenciaga one.  This one may work.  Last but not least, far right, oversized herringbone wool coat.  An oversized plaid long coat as an option.
