French style bathroom eclectic design

We’re starting to renovate Lucas’ bathroom and this time I’m going for a more eclectic French approach.  It’s for a toddler this bathroom, but it’ll also be shared with guests so it’ll be eclectic and rooted on tradition.  I love how French have proven their immortal style so much so that sometimes they throw this here and that there and they know that the result will be as close to perfect as if they had planned it more carefully.  I’ll just try and see what comes out.  After all Belle stands for my love of everything French and Vivir for my living, feeling and experience through design since I ever remember.  Enjoy the eye candy!

Remember my dilemma with not having enough space for a deep bathtub in our master bathroom. Well, after I figured out how to make it work (by replacing the adjacent bathroom’s door by a pocket door and taking over 5 inches); I sat down and thought why all the hustle and bustle for a bathtub that is not going to be deeper than 17 inches? Unfortunately bathtubs start getting deeper after 6′. So I decided for a shower instead with a wooden bench to sit on and give myself my own pedicure. That’s what we have right now anyway and it’s worked pretty well. It’ll only be a lot nicer. All these images are more than inspirational and even our bathroom won’t be lined in Onyx or in any of those one-of-a kind marbles that Kelly Wearstler seem to love; I’ll let you know later what I’ll use.  I also love all the glass doors in these showers.  Steven Gambrel (above) via Elle Decor seems to favor travertine marble for the showers he designs.
Kate Spades is my kind of girl because she rather have bigger common spaces like a living room, library and bedroom than bigger baths. I prefer that too. The spacious shower below also found at Elle Decor is like a personal gym also.

In this bathroom designed by Nathan Egan the walls are covered in marble and the floor seem to be covered with penny or hexagon marble tiles.

The basketweave floor tiles have no competition because of the use of lucite/acrylic legs as sink base.

David Jimenez used white subway tiles on the walls and marble mosaic on the floor in this all white bathroom.

One thing I love is the feeling of mosaic in shower floor bathrooms.  I think I would like a combination of marble and texture where the warm feeling of textured walls and the sophisticated look of marble harmoniously mingle in my shower.  Bathrooms with marble on the floors and walls are exquisite and refined to the eyes.  I’ve been collecting images of rooms with mosaic floors and marble walls for my future master bath renovation. I don’t think that is anytime soon due to all the other home projects that I need to tackle before, but by the time it comes I’ll have enough beautiful images to get inspiration from. How about you, do you prefer mosaic for your shower floor?

I love the tent looking curtains framing the French doors. I also love the warming effect the wood and fabric bring to this bathroom. P.S. remember the wonderful giveaway here. The winner will be selected tomorrow.   image from Coastal Living.

I’m a big fan of bathrooms with a fireplace.  I can’t think of a better way to unwind after a hectic day than taking a bath in front of a fire.top image is from Home & Garden, second from Peter Dunham.

I would take everything in this rustic bathroom.  The big mirror, the furniture piece converted into a vanity, the wicker baskets, the free-standing tub, and the shutters… Oh, those shutters give such a beautiful feeling to this bathroom.
