What to pack to cartagena via belle vivir blog

What To Pack To Cartagena:  My first choice of clothing when traveling to a city like Cartagena de Indias, Colombia’s largest tropical port, would be to embellish myself in only Dries Van Noten and Stella McCartney’s sophisticated prints.  When that may happen, I don’t know!  Until then, I am happy with shopping at Top Shop this summer.  I paid a visit yesterday to do some shopping for our trip to the wall surrounded city next week and I loved the beautiful prints on their understated British styled pieces.  I was even happier when I saw their price tags.  Here are my picks to pack to Cartagena, a city where heat is the norm.  Enjoy!

Culotte pants is the kind of fashion that make many people stop and wonder, should I or not?  Yes it’s the type that needs to grow on us.  It starts by giving it a little time, seeing it here and there,  getting used to it and maybe then we’ll give it a try.  You see fashionistas and trendsetters are interesting species being that their fashion adaptation time is practically nonexistent.  They magically and hormonally awake with the trend itself, resulting in looks
that are as new as effortless.  Enjoy!

A pink coat is obviously not the most practical idea of all and certainly its presence in your closet doesn’t mean you should relegate its far more forgiving dark counterpart.  You know just in case of accidental spilling.  But one of its many attributes is that pink goes well on almost everybody and it happens to be the it coat at the moment, thanks to Celine Fall 2013 collection.  Enjoy!

Barbara Martelo via belle vivir blog

By looking at the style of Barbara Martelo you may, with good reasons, think of a casual
Parisian Chic style, although she was born in Madrid.  Barbara is a lawyer-turned-fashion editor with a style that strikes a perfect balance between casual chic and feminine.  One of the toughest things to pull off in Fashion is a padded shoulder blazer or jacket and she seems to wear them with ease.  Enjoy!

Givenchy via belle vivir blog

Ricardo Tisci on accepting the offer to be Givenchy’s fashion director.  “[…] my mother called me and said to me, ‘I am going to tell you something I haven’t even told your sisters: I think I am going to sell our house because your sisters are struggling, they’re having children, they need the money. I will go to a retirement home.’ When I heard that it was like a knife in my heart. I felt like such a failure, that my mother had to sell the house of my father whom I don’t remember. And then I went to Paris, and they showed me a contract with all these zeros on it, and it was like help from God.” from Wikipedia.  I already love him. It’s interesting how some posts develop.  I started with a different idea for today’s post until I realized that most of the images I selected had something Givenchy in them.  From Clutches to stunning patterned clothes to bags and accessories, everything Ricardo Tisci creation is simply amazing.  No one makes the wild and gothic side look this sophisticated better than him.  Enjoy!

Leather Shorts via belle vivir blog

I’m my mother’s daughter, by that I mean that I’m always cold.  I would be much happier in a climate always over 90’s and limited air-condition use.  That’s why I’m so happy to see the combination of leather, sweaters, trench coats and tights for fall street-fashion.  Fashion is way more interesting when it’s also non-torturing.  However we can deny the Fall Fashion trend of Leather Shorts showing up everywhere lately…  Enjoy!
