It’s Tuesday already but I’d like to share with you a brief sneak peak of a project and snippets of our weekend, which was all about relaxing and walking.  We visited a family member who just had a baby boy.  What a cutie! And then it was all about hanging around and spending some time for myself while enjoying a bubble bath.

I’m often low in iron so there is always the perfect excuse to have an open burger.  Bobby Flay makes the best ones.

Images of a project I’ve been working int he City where we
decided to use Ringwold for the bedroom (above) and Renaissance for the
entrance.

Some people prefer closets where everything is on display, maybe for better and faster access, where as others prefer to have their clothes neatly behind doors and drawers.  I think I prefer a combination of both or maybe doors that can easily open up the space.  I like to see everything I have because I always think I’m forgetting something.  I love the top closet via Elle Decor, everything about it speaks to me but mostly the lighting.  The three closets below are via Architectural Digest, first belongs to Alberto Pinto in his Brazilian home and third to Alfredo Paredes and Brad Goldfarb, are more masculine and austere, but both have great lighting as well.  Lighting is an element we all want when getting dressed.

This closet, above, has a well lived feeling via Architectural Digest.

This kitchen I came across with is from a newly constructed farm house in Spain that Isabel Lopez Quesada created together with architect Pablo Carvajal.  It’s hard to guess that this kitchen with that old and graciously run down feel is newly constructed.  There are many obvious elements that help create the ambiance of old, from the reclaimed wood-plank floor, the classic bin cabinet pulls to the curved over sized range hood.  I love the details of the rivets on the stainless steel backsplash.  The range is Lacanche.  Enjoy

Love the mixture of rustic and elegance in this bathroom where the sink bases are of gun metal finish. If you are like me, maybe it’s too soon to think about any other finish than antique brass but, because not all interiors are created equal and because each comes with it’s respective finishing requirement and necessity, here is Gun Metal finish.  Gun Metal has that sophisticated rustication in it that proves that Glamour can be shared with a more laid back environment.  It’s a great alternative for spaces that are less pretentious.

I’m not suggesting the chair to go with the table.  A contrasting set of white chairs would be a much better option.

A dramatic nail polish in Gun Metal finish does not appeal to everyone but it’ll for sure make a statement.

Ever since kitchens became the center of the house, meaning that they
are usually literally in the middle of the house.  More often in homes
or apartments with an open floor plan, they are looking less and
less like a kitchen.  Leaving upper walls empty of cabinets that could
make the space feel cramped or closed in and instead making them a focal
point by using beautiful stones or tiles, adding sconces, art and many
other things that before were more commonly used in other rooms of the
house.  I like this new recent trend, I like the idea of making the
kitchen part of the decor of the house, if living in a place where the
kitchen is open. Enjoy!

GLAM!

A very minimalist and rustic kitchen.  Love the stove.

 This kitchen is too cute!

Love the home school feel of this kitchen.
This kitchen is simple but it’s very clean and organized.

I recently read that one of the latest amenities in the hot New York City real estate market is to provide buildings with common libraries.  Many of the exclusive buildings offering this kind of convenience to their future buyers have in their shelves only Architecture and Design related books and usually from luxury Publishing houses as Assouline. I can understand why this would be a catch for buyers especially those looking for a luxury lifestyle living.  A library feels old school and cozy and there’s always a welcoming feeling.  I don’t think there is anything else other than a library, or simple bookcases with books, that can make a house instantly feel a home.  Enjoy!
