The Gritti Palace Hotel in Venice had to go under a major renovation in an effort to save the legendary hotel from sinking.  And still some global warming deniers keep trying to make their case.  They should go ask the residents living in coastal areas, islands and peninsulas, what it feels like to live with the reality of their cities sinking daily.  Although for some people global warming is not happening, other smarter ones are taking positive actions to save their Countries and Cities.  The famous Gritti Palace Hotel is a favorite of rich and famous and some say Ernest Hemingway was among them.  Enjoy this beauty!

Italy

In Spain you have the best food and the most friendly people ever.  You don’t get on or off an elevator without hearing “hasta luego” a few times.  In Paris you have the magic and the romance of the architecture and sometimes have to take the beauty along with its snobby people, yes it’s worthy.  But in Italy, oh Italy! you have “I bambini” running around and playing freely and happy, you have the good coffee by the stunning beaches, you have the sun, the perfect sun, the one that can result in the best tan.  You see the grandma, the grandpa and the whole family together sunbathing by rocky beaches.  Italy is happiness and family reunion.  And lately I have come to the realization that either Italians have descendants all over the world, that jointly go back for vacation every summer or everybody secretly prefers Italy among the rest.  I’m saying this because everybody, on Instagram is either going, is already there or has been recently to Italy’s beautiful beach coast.  If you don’t believe me, just pay a visit to your Instagram feed and for sure you’ll see one or two people posting beautiful photos from Italy.  I’ve been to Italy a few times and I can’t wait to go back and enjoy all the beauty it has to offer.  Enjoy!

We’ve been in New York City for more than a week now and I feel totally home and happy.   But, since it’s a completely normal thing to be happy where you are and still think about being somewhere else I’m thinking about Europe.  And so this Hotel HamYard Hotel in London showed up in a magazine last week and judging by the pictures and the location, the chic Soho area in London, looks like a place cool enough to stay.  The Hotel belongs to the Firmdale Hotels and if it looks to you like the Crosby Street Hotel it’s because they are brothers from the same mother.  The designer responsible for all these beautiful layers of coziness and beauty is Kit Kemp and her husband the same couple that designed The Crosby Street Hotel.  Enjoy!

Cartagena via belle vivir blog
If you are like me, and travel for architecture, food, culture and fresh air then Cartagena de Indias is undoubtedly a place you should go.  The main attractions of this city is enclosed within a fortified wall built around the 1530’s to protect the city from pirates who seem to be more than interested in the gold existing in ancients tombs as well as in Cartagena’s strategical trading location.  We were expecting a devastating heat while we were there however the weather was perfectly comfortable.  Sunny everyday but also breezy and very little humidity in particular during the late afternoons when the sun is setting.  Between admiring the colonial architecture and trying out the ceviche we had a very memorable Christmas and I highly recommend it.
