Right now we are driving to Columbus, Ohio, yes driving, I would take any short cut (hypothetically speaking) in order to not get on an airplane.  After 9/11 I’m terrified of flying.  Anyhow, I’m very happy and excited that Lucas, Jennifer my niece, and I are going to spend two weeks with my in-laws whom I truly adore.  My hubby who is more than sweet to drive us all the way there will fly back.  We woke up at 3:30AM and left home at 4:30AM in order to take advantage of the morning hours that seem to fly away faster than the afternoon ones.  Unlike everyone else on board I really enjoy days like today because I’m a morning person.  I love to wake up early in the morning listen to the birds singing and watch the sun rise.  I’m even more happy and grateful to my beautiful blogger friends who are going to run a series by guest-blogging here in Belle Vivir.  Without your help it wouldn’t be possible for me to spend quality time with my in-laws.  These five talented ladies have excellent taste and always have the most breath taking, beautiful images in their blogs.  I couldn’t be happier.  I really appreciate it.  Next week I’ll reveal their names and blogs.  The series will be called
Staycation in Style” where they’ll share with us what they do when not going away in order to renew and to get inspired.  Since our trip to Ohio is not really a vacation, I’ll make sure I do some of those things with my mother in law and niece whilyst away.

Did
I die and wake up in heaven? Have you seen anything more beautiful
than this place? No, this blog is not been paid by The Turkish Tourism
Office but, if there is anyone in Turkey, especially in the Bodrum area,
with room for a family of three who needs decorating or event designing
services for residential or commercial; I’m in. I mean, can you blame
me? Macakizi Hotel in
Bodrum is one of the most stunning places I’ve seen, so far. And people
like Chelsea Clinton and Caroline Kennedy seem to agree with me. It’s
unpretentious but classic and its Mediterranean decor and setting make
me want to give up everything, including my bathroom renovations, and
jump on a plane and just breathe; all the beauty in. The food, so
incredibly fresh doesn’t hurt either.

Imagine getting out of this little piece of heaven every morning.

Most of them are centuries old and constructed in perfect and steady ways that even today is hardly explicable, thick of Gothic ached ceilings. They are still today standing graciously and elegant like only they can do. My friend Vyna asked me the other day which country I would like to live in if I ever have the chance to relocate. My answer was straight forward “anywhere in Europe, where there are antique buildings to admire and cobble stone streets to stroll on” That be Paris, Munich or Istanbul I could move tomorrow in a heartbeat. How about you where would you like to live in?

Between the essence of lavender, warm open fire and breath taking vineyard views is La Bastide de Marie, Sibuet Hotels and Spa, located in the French Provence region. By the way if you think you recognize this place you’re not wrong. This magical place is where Marion Cotillard’s photoshoot for Vogue’s July issue took place. I don’t think there is anything else I would need other than being here in a cold Sunday Morning. Maybe a few croissant au chocolat…Brunch anyone?

I wanted to share with you some images of my trip to Turkey.  Rather than a travel guide, this is more of an Istanbul review.  Istanbul treated me with a lot of what I love the most: a mixture of old and new, innovation and tradition and I couldn’t be happier to absorb it all in. On the first day, our discoveries of Istanbul started at the Sultan Ahmet Mosque, more famously known as the Blue Mosque (first 3 pictures). The neighborhood, also called Sultan Ahmet, is situated on cobble-stoned sloped streets were you can also spot the Golden Horn part of the Bosphorus. It’s a non-ending contemplation of beauty.

Above, Hagia Sophia’s opulent Byzantine architecture where Islamic influences meet the original Church with Christian-depicted golden mosaics. Surrounding the center of the structure is a loggia supported by magnificent marble pilasters and arched yellow and gray geometric design mosaic ceiling.  Below are images of the Topkapi Palace which is located on one of the highest points of Istanbul’s shoreline overlooking the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara. The palace, today a museum, is divided in many courtyards and buildings among which you can see a mixture of Asian, Middle Eastern, and Eclectic Europeanized architecture.
