A Fashionable Life will be another regular post of this blog, which I’ll try to post every Friday.  For this initial post, we are all super lucky since we get a glimpse into Lauren Santo Domingo’s Southampton home currently featured in the September issue of Vogue.  I love Lauren’s style in fashion and interiors, and her Southampton home is like a perfect new home that feels old, classic old indeed.  Lauren worked with the distinguished classicist architect Gil Schafer.  Unfortunately, Vogue article only shows the beautiful and magical garden designed by Miranda Brooks and the interiors of the barn decorated by Virginia Tupker.

Tory Burch’s beach home in Antigua is not only chic by design but also by provenance. This beautiful beach house once belonged to the garden designer and private socialite, Bunny Mellon. Bunny is well known for her impeccable taste and fantastic garden designs. Albeit the house sat for years without being sold, once Tory Burch laid eyes on the beach house she undoubtedly saw the gem that Architect H. Page Cross built for Bunny Mellon in the 1960’s. Vogue describes the pretty house as a series of elegant pavilions. Back in the days, Bunny enlisted the legendary Interior Designer Billy Baldwin to jointly with her, design the house. This was usually the case with most of Bunny Mellon’s houses; she was an active collaborator in the interior design process of most of them. Her only design request for this particular coastal home? She told Billy Baldwin to make the interior look as if was furnished with furniture found in the attic.

Vogue Editorial Inside Lazaro Rosa Violan House office via belle vivir blog

While looking at the May issue of American Vogue I spotted a corner that looked strangely familiar to me.  It was the white chesterfield sofa in Lazaro Rosa Violan’s studio with an oversized white architectural salvage piece behind.  Then of course I saw the script and there it was.  Photos taken at Lazaro Rosa-Violan Contemporain Studio.  Then I did a little more research about it and found out at Lazaro’s Facebook page that some of them were taken at his house. It is always great to see more of Lazaro’s work and all thanks to American Vogue.  Enjoy!

Here throw the door we can see the Chinese panels Rosa-Violan had in another area of his studio.

Bruno Frisoni's Moroccan Home via belle vivir blog
Bruno Frisoni, the designer behind the eponymous shoe brand Roger Vivier shares a vacation home in Tangier, Morocco with his partner the designer Herver Van Der Straeten.  As much as I love Roger Vivier’s shoes, Herve Van Der Straeten is by far a favorite among fashionable people who love unique furniture.  Every Roger Vivier shoes is chic so no wonder Bruno Frisoni’s Moroccan Home is also chic and modern with a reference to classic design.  The result of their home is simply gorgeous.  Enjoy!

I love to imagine perfect scenarios, as you could have noticed.  In this case I think I would like it more if politicians or activists would make the cover of Vogue rather than celebrities.  For example one month Al Gore with ‘An Inconvenient Truth’, It’s happening people, climate change is really happening look or better said “feel around you”.  I love the first lady, Michelle Obama on the cover of the April issue of Vogue “Inspiring America”.  And she really is an inspiration to every woman.  A woman of great values and a very steady sense of family values who knows first-hand that women can and should be both, advocates for what we believe in and equally stylish.  And talking about that new hair makeover, she looks amazing.  Enjoy! I approve this hair makeover.

L'Wren Scott's Paris Apartment office via belle vivir
Divine vignette in the living room of L’Wren Scott’s Paris Apartment, with Damien Hirst spots hanging in the back wall. Lately I’ve been drawn to more neutral interiors.  Interiors where warm-beige-painted paneling walls work as a backdrop to a combination of soft and textural furniture.  L’Wren and Mick Jagger’s home in Paris, featured in Vogue May issue,  is the total opposite of what you would expect from a Rock-Star home: with beautiful paneling, walls painted in beautiful light tones that go from lilac to beige, herringbone floors all throughout the apartment, antique rugs, and the perfect balance between wood and fabric.  The final result is a jaw dropping home.   What I love most is how updated the apartment looks by keeping the paneling walls in light tones.  Enjoy!
