I first came familiar with the term nouveau-rustico while reading an article at a magazine referring to the new Italian restaurants Osterias, which, as a new trend, are offering a more home-made-Italian-style menu and I couldn’t help but associate the term and trend to what’s popping up in the home design world. After all food, fashion and decor are very much influenced by one another. This nouveau-rustico decor is a combination of matte surface wood, linen or some other organic textile with a good dose of glam (but one you can live long enough with) thrown in there resulting in a style that screams ” hey, I’ve been to some places, I’ve seen enough and I’m going back to basics without sacrificing style” Pierre Yovanovitch’s home in my previous post is an example of nouveau-rustico style. Because you can’t live in a lounge-like room every day. Below, a glimpse.

Beautiful. I think that's a really good name for this look–I love it. Progressive in some ways, but respects the classics.

Ooooh! This I like! And thank you for giving me the term!
My house is so boring, I can see it now…. I need to be more brave and playful… I need to mix it up even more…
Hope all is well with you my friend.
