Month: May 2011

I’ve been saving part of these images that I found here for ever.  Most of these photographs were taken by Henry Clarke around the 60’s and I love that there were a lot of classic ladies wearing striped outfits.  Henry Clarke was an American fashion photographer who after meeting Celil Beaton at Vogue, became enchanted by the magic of photography, moved to Paris and soon started working for Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue.  Ada from Classiq recently made a great post about him. Check it out.  These images are just so inspiring and admirable to look at, especially now-a-days when there is so much obnoxious reality shows going on.  Sometimes I get to ask myself how did we go from there to now?

This vision of these models overlooking the ocean in Palermo is what I really want for my summer.  More please.
This photograph of Susan Murray also by Henry Clarke 1966 reminds me of the Whirling Dervishes in Turkey.

Without being redundant I can’t resist professing my eternal love for stripes, one more time.  I seriously cannot get enough of it.  It has turned to a point where most of the gifts I’m getting lately either have some stripes or are completely covered by it.  I bookmark all the striped things I come across.  This list here are some of my favorite things in stripes right now.  I’m sure I’ve left some out that I will eventually post.  Enjoy

These Claire Vivier in leather with silk screen stripe are not only chic but they are also really affordable.
A bold art statement on your walls can literally brighten up any day by Jonathan Lewis here and Coach is designing some seriously cute bangles, this one is hip and bohemian.

Resort Cabanas has really glamorous Beach cabanas.  B&B Italian UP armchair & footstool, striped by Gaetano Pesce is just adorable.

Zara large blouse, I think Zara is making great clothes for this Summer.  I can’t wait.  Prada sandals, you gotta love it.

Cup and saucer here and the tribal stripes on this cotton rug is definitely calling my name, I think I would love it more if it were in multicolu, at West Elm.

Well, after that unexpected imposed vacation by Blogger and having lost my last two posts from yesterday, here I am again with a glamorous office “get-the-look”, inspired by this gorgeous pencil brass holder from Jayson Home and Garden. I can’t get enough of it, it’s sculptural, it’s glamorous, it’s chic and it’s certainly feminine and it’s brass. Unfortunately I lost my drafts from yesterday where I had saved the links to each of the pieces and I can’t list them today but I’ll add them on later. For now, I’ll wish you a very happy weekend.

When I saw this room, designed by Tino Zervudachi in the May issue of Architectural Digest I fell in love with the color scheme on the beautiful Chinoiserie wallpaper; and the first thought that came to my mind was the beautiful days of Spring and how everything around us get prettier with the blooming of flowers. This dress I found at Zara’s website reminded me of this room and made me search for some more flowery accessories. Because it’s a simple way to bring flowers into your life.

I have two beautiful Italian gilt-edged chairs that are up for sale, very much alike to the ones Kelly Wearstler used for her guestroom kitchen. They’re in great vintage condition, upholstery is good, frame is good as well. I also have 3 yards and 3/4 of Quadrille, Alan Campbell’s Melinda in navy blue on tint. If any of you is interested you can email me for price inquiries.

I love seeing children’s rooms, especially if they include fun and dynamic furniture or accessories. This large (40″ long) Sopwith Camel replica-model airplane would bring a fantastic charming touch to any kid’s room. Available here.

Stacking Throne is both space saving and innovative.

Claire Anne O’brien’s knitted stools are so modern yet cozy.

Alex desk comes with an optional dry-erase board to make homework easier.

John Golden‘s digital art is not only cute but also reminds the little ones of good behavior. Just my kind of art.
