Black wall painted rooms, black walls in home decor ideas

Painting the walls or an entire room of your home in black may sound scary.  Lately we are seeing more fearless home owners that choose black paint to paint an entire room or one stand along wall.  They are choosing a more daring home decor for their homes.  In modern interior design results are not out of a text book anymore which means that there is no rule when it comes to decorating.  Rules are to be broken they say.  However, there are a few elements to consider when choosing black walls for your home.  Many of the best black rooms I’ve seen share a few decor style elements in common.  Light color floors and furniture, decent amount of incoming light, and contrasting wall art that stand out dramatically against the black walls.  For even a more soothing and cozy ambiance in a room, a black grass cloth wallpaper would be a great option.  A black grass cloth or seagrass wallpaper would create depth and a subtle sheen on the walls.  For a children room decor or for a kitchen design area, a chalkboard wall would be very suitable. Black wall painted rooms is a wonderful way to modernize a space.

With this post I have no intention to brag about our bright and sunny days with temperatures in the upper 80’s.  This is more to encourage those in the East Coast where this winter has been the coldest one in 20 years, sorry!  Joke aside, I hope these images inspire you to keep yourself and your home beautiful and stylish in the cold.

White marble Bathroom with Brass Fixture, marble and brass bathroom
In this gorgeous bathroom, the wall is covered in what looks like
Calcutta marble, the bathroom fixtures and shower enclosure ring are
in antique brass finish.

One of the most classic looks in design is the combination of white a marble bathroom with brass fixtures.  Of course this is subjective, but when talking about contrasts with harmonious combination, white marble and brass is one of the tops.  Brass is one of those elements in interior design that goes well with many other materials and stones.  For example in these images here included, you’ll see white tiles contrasting with brass as well because it’s not only a more affordable option but it’s also very striking one as well. One of the things I miss the most from home is my white marble bathroom that we had just finished remodeling.  I covered the walking shower walls and floor in Calacatta slab and hexagon tiles respectively.  I personally prefer the golden toned veins in Calacatta marble to the blue-grey and busier ones found in the more popular Carrara.  One thing I would’ve loved to do though was to add brass fixtures for a more classy look.  It’s a metal that I covet all my life especially when the
brass is in unpolished or brushed finish.

Sarah Lavoine via belle vivir
French interiors are not that easy to stamp.  They do share common threads though that only stress further this fact.  Emphasis on personal style, highly refined finishes and details, and a disengagement from decorating rules in general.  The main focus is on the architecture and its preservation.  That’s why we don’t get to see two French homes that are identical, even when designed by the same Interior Designer.  Something that’s highly admirable.  The designer Sarah Lavoine designed this apartment with a perfect French flair.  Enjoy!
