We got back from the south last Friday, and you may think that while heading north temperatures would get more chill, but the opposite was true. Temperatures across the US are scorching hot, and although many still decide to not believe in Global Warming, it’s something to think about, to say the least. In the ideal world, the government would believe science, and we would all be in this fight together. On the other side of the world; however, there are still places that do everything with sustainability in mind and all without sacrificing style. Case in point Quinta Da Comporta: Wellness Boutique Resort is a sustainable signature project envisioned and designed by renowned Portuguese architect, Miguel Câncio Martins.
This idyllic area of Portugal may as well be one of the last untouched natural preserves on earth. The neutral palette of tones is set by the use of salvaged natural materials of the area, such as wood, wicker, glass, and stone with décor motifs designed by local artisans that color in each space with elegance and authenticity. Quinta da Comporta has seventy-three spacious Double, Deluxe and Duplex Rooms, Suites and Pool Villas, creating the perfect resort for a genuine journey inwards. Make no mistake, the resort is done with authenticity in mind, but that doesn’t mean it lacks sophistication, most of the fabric used throughout is by Pierre Frey and every detail is been considered.
The construction project gravitates around the rehabilitation of pre-existing structures and materials throughout the property. The use of solar panels creates sustainable electricity, the implementation of treatment processes allows the reutilization of residual waters in the gardens, the exclusive use of bikes and electrical buggies inside the resort cuts back on toxic exhausts. The result is a Design Concept that is inviting, integrates the community, and is faithful to Comporta’s culture both in style and lifestyle without compromising the highest level of comfort and sophistication.
I can only imagine this lounge area in the fall with the floating fireplace on, how romantic and peaceful.
