Yesterday while going through my daily morning reads I came across this article with the title The Gorgeous Brain, Beauty is a spiritual obligation written by Dr. Billi Gordon, Ph.D., stroking my attention.  I thought it would be good to stop the regular Sunday Quotes post today and dive a little deeper into the human battle with so-so standards of beauty, performance and acceptance.  Here are a few highlights from the article.  To read the full article click here.

…..We live in a “sizeocracy.”  You cannot be too short if you are a man, too tall if you are woman, and nobody can be overweight, especially women.  War is ugly, not people.  The time we spend laughing is too short, not people.  The walls we build to exclude each other are too tall, not people.  People are, and beauty is……

…..Beauty and ugliness are capacities we all have.   Like all things human, there are individual biases.  When it comes to beauty, it is a matter of two things: knowing you are beautiful, and knowing how to present it…….

….we become who we believe we are.  That is because the human brain has a tremendous amount of cognitive load and does not like searching for conclusions.  Hence, it welcomes cues on what a person is, from how the person treats his or her self, and how others treat the person…….The human brain always finds what it is looking for…..

…..It is also important to remember that since the first prokaryote appeared in the primordial sea, until the last star in the Universe sputters and falls into eternal blackness, there will have been only one you……Read more here.

Nothing more intimate and feminine than lace and satin lingerie.  Have you guys caught on the trend circulating Instagram and Tumblr lately?  A frequent invasion of photos  displaying beautifully edited lingerie on beds, on tables, you name it.  Each and everyone of them more beautiful than the other one.  I love all kinds of fashion editorial from major renowned magazines to personal Instagram accounts.  How the saying goes, a picture can say a thousand words…

The late post is thanks to a cleansing I’ve been doing for the past three days which somehow leaves me a bit out of inspo.  The cleansing is nothing as serious as an-only-liquid one.  All
my respect to those who can do that.  It’s one I kind of adjusted myself.  No meat, no fish, no dairy, no processed food instead a lot of legumes, vegetable, quinoa, smoothie with protein and stuff like that.  Although I don’t feel weak, I seem to be struggling in the land of inspiration.  I sat in front of the computer today thinking, what can I possibly blog about today?  And guess what was the first thing that popped into my mind!  Kitchen!  I think that’s a sign telling me to go and eat some real food.

Women think of beautiful hair with the same passion as men think of expensive sport cars.  Luckily with all the great and affordable hair products out there women have a far better chance of scratching the itch than men.  By beautiful hair I mean healthy, shiny, bouncy and manageable hair.  No, we are not vain guys, it’s that with healthy hair you can basically do anything you want with it.  Cool and pretty things like messy and casual ponytails for example.  There are many styles out there, sleek ponytail, low, teased crown, high ponytail, you name it.  Ideally this hair style works better on layered haircuts.  The first step to accomplish a messy ponytail look is to forget about perfection.  Use a fine comb to ruffle up the roots on the top of your head and apply light hairspray,  slowly pull them back with your fingertips leaving some loose to frame your face and hold them with an elastic band.  Hair scrunchies are not allowed!  Finish it up with light hairspray to keep the bouncing from flatting out.
