Nina Flohr canopy bed by Veere Grenney

When I included a beautiful master bedroom with a canopy bed in my post yesterday, I knew I was going to post the rest of the house today.  The London townhouse belongs to Nina Flohr and was designed by Veere Greeney.  The home is an excellent interpretation of transitional design, contemporary but clearly rooted in classic Interior Design.  I love that this home feels as if it was enveloped in coziness with just the right amount of glam or what I like to call a livable glamour.  A touch of lamour is there enough to add some twinkle but it wont overwhelm you and you wont get tired of it.  The townhouse once belonged to Nina’s father, Thomas Flohr the founder of VistaJet, an aviation company.  Most recently Nina Flohr founded the non-profit Kisawa Sanctuary in Mozambique where she will soon also develop a hotel. The townhouse is featured in this month’s AD where you can read more about it.

Interior design trends change like the seasons, and every year there is a shift in what is popular.  Popular lately is the use of traditional Interior Design elements, like mahogany furniture, Chinoiserie wallpaper, and colored kitchen cabinets. With that being said, let’s take a closer look at some of these traditional elements, and why they continue to be popular.

Sweater Weather, sweaters under 300

Sweater Roundup, sweaters under 300

It’s Sweater Roundup time, and it’s time to start thinking about what sweaters to add to our winter clothes repertoire.  In this roundup of sweaters, we are suggesting various styles from oversized chunky ones to classic turtlenecks to striped pullovers because we should all have options when it comes to dressing, right?  Sweaters are to me in cold weather what dresses are to me in Summer; they facilitate getting dress better than any other piece in our wardrobes.  Nothing makes my morning routine easier when getting ready to take my son to school, than putting on a sweater over skinny jeans.  It’s a no-brainer, stylish and comfortable.  I pair the outfit with an ankle boot for Fall and voila!  BTW, a couple of these sweaters from last year are on sale now.

Buckingham Palace: The Interiors

I get super excited this time of year when the most anticipated Interior Design books are released.  As much as I enjoy Instagram and Pinterest, both good sources of inspiration and entertainment, nothing can compare to the full experience of holding, touching and reading a book.  Actually, the cold season is indeed the perfect time to enjoy a good book while cuddling up by the fire.  These inspirational volumes, published by Vendome and Rizzoli, are full of major ideas, and above all exclusivity, since most of the images you’ll find in these books have not been seen before.  Here are my 6 Interior Design books to read In 2018 that every design aficionado should add to her/his library.

How to find motivation to go to the gym in the winter.  We have all felt it, the overwhelming urge to skip going to the gym.  There is always an excuse available.  We had a long stressful day at work.  We have work to catch up on at home.  We are feeling extra tired today.  These excuses tend to multiply in the winter time when the days are colder and darker.  No one wants to leave the cozy confines of their home to venture out into the cold.

Fall Autumn Inspiration Rose Uniacke

Fall brings the best with it.  To start, Autumn is the official season for Pumpkin Spice Latte and who hasn’t been waiting all summer for it?  On the Fashion side, it opens the beginning of Fall Fashion Week which kicks off in New York City.  The 8-Day Show presentation started on September 5th with Tom Ford and will end on September 12th with Marc Jacobs.  You can find the calendar and images of the shows here.  This Fall, I’m feeling some moody colors such as military green, sepia, camel, and perhaps even that perfect tone of taupe with significant amount of pink in it.  Here is some inspiration to get us all in sync with Fall and start feeling the coziness.  Hello Fall!
