How to gain inspiration

I’m reposting this post from 2013 in a moment when we are all in need of a morale booster. Sometimes Inspiration hides away and it’s hard to find. It’s a normal process of life itself. Nothing is static in life. I put together these 6 steps to regain inspiration that usually helps me find mine most of the time. I hope it’s helpful to you too.

Inspiration comes from a greater force. I believe it is a positive response to our actions and thoughts. Therefore if you want to regain inspiration the first thing to do is to drop any resentment or anger inside you. It’s impossible to live a positive and inspiring life with a negative and resented mind.

In these times of uncertainty and fear, it is key to not lose hope nor perspective while taking the precautionary measures recommended by professionals.  Here in Columbus and in New York City, schools are closed, restaurants are only offering take out or delivery and social distancing is the temporary way of living.  I really dislike how the media is using the term “new normal” to refer to this moment of social distancing.  I like to see the glass half full and think that very soon things will be back to normal.

It has finally started to feel like Autumn, and I’m feeling moody saturated colors typical of Fall: deep reds, moss green, browns, and black are a few of the colors I’m looking for.  Enjoy your beginning of Fall.

Fall Autumn Inspiration Rose Uniacke

Fall brings the best with it.  To start, Autumn is the official season for Pumpkin Spice Latte and who hasn’t been waiting all summer for it?  On the Fashion side, it opens the beginning of Fall Fashion Week which kicks off in New York City.  The 8-Day Show presentation started on September 5th with Tom Ford and will end on September 12th with Marc Jacobs.  You can find the calendar and images of the shows here.  This Fall, I’m feeling some moody colors such as military green, sepia, camel, and perhaps even that perfect tone of taupe with significant amount of pink in it.  Here is some inspiration to get us all in sync with Fall and start feeling the coziness.  Hello Fall!

When you see or hear the name Oprah attached to something, you know the end result will be far from simple.  Furthermore if it has something to do with beauty and serenity, inner beauty and natural growth.  Unsurprisingly Oprah Winfrey’s Rose Garden is worth keeping on an inspirational board for all the valid reasons as you can corroborate by looking at these images below.  Rose parterres, gravel pathways, topiaries, and a metal arbor where Oprah usually goes to get in sync with nature.  She declares “Sometimes I stand under the arbor, close my eyes, and allow myself to take in as much as I can: I hear birds splashing in the fountain and literally smell the roses. This garden makes me present.”  One of the many effects Gardens can have on people, which I wrote about in this post.
