Jean Louis Deniot's LA home, 1930's architecture

Jean Louis Deniot’s Los Angeles home is nestled in the hills above Sunset Boulevard, and it’s a 1930’s fairy-tale.  “When the weather is nasty in Paris I jump on a plane and come to beautiful La La Land,” he told AD.  It took Deniot two years to complete the renovation of the over 2,000-square-foot home. The charming house has Tudor style exteriors, and Spanish-style interiors, many homes in L.A. share a Spanish-style interior architecture.  Jean Louis is known for his dramatic while livable interiors, but for his Los Angeles home, he kept things more on the relaxing side.

Palm Beach Interior design, blue exterior shutters

We are planning a trip to the south this summer, and one of the cities we are visiting is Palm Beach, Florida along with Savanna, and Charleston.  I can’t wait for those needed relaxing days to come.  After what feels like one of the longest winters and a stormy Spring, I’m ready for sand and sun.  This vacation home located in Palm Beach is not where we’ll be staying, unfortunately, but since I love Palm Beach architecture so much and more so homes that are layered with fine details and personality, here is a tour of this charming vacation home to inspire.

Now that it is practically summer here in the States; I can’t stop thinking about how convenient it would be to have an outdoor shower where to wash off the day under the burning sun or during sunset.  In our case, for example, having an outdoor shower would be not only a luxury but very convenient, for instance, our son, Lucas would frequently use it especially after coming back from many of his summer camps.

We can all consider bathing alfresco as one of the most natural things to do it connects us with nature; when design with luxury and function in mind, an outdoor shower can become the best of the treats.  Below, we rounded up 12 Open-Air Showers ideas that will make you feel you are in an eternal vacation.

sophisticated country office design, Bunny Melon

sophisticated country design style, Bunny Mellon Antigua home

The Antigua residence of Bunny Mellon.

Often when some hear the word country style or interior design, the first images that come to their mind are unpainted wood, rust metal furniture, and rough, textural walls and floors surfaces, however, there is also another kind of country style that is also sophisticated and refined.  It’s true that I love urban and polished interiors, but I also love and enjoy being in a sophisticated country space for many different reasons, but mostly for its coziness and inviting feel.

I’m reposting this beautiful and elegant home, originally published seven years ago since I’m working this week in New York City.  I’ll be back on regular posting schedule next week.

Now that we’re moving into a new home, I’ve been revising my favorite homes and this one designed by J. Randall Powers is one of those.  Powers is an Interior Designer based in Houston, Texas.  One of my favorite things about this home is how none of the furniture actually relate to each other but the combination of all of them is pure genius, fresh and elegant. How is it that Elle Decor described it? “Cool and Elegant”. The first image below made the cover of Elle Decor magazine when the house was published and no wonder why… J. Randall Powers style is one that is transitionalRandall perfectly combines furniture of different styles and eras and make them look cohesive and most importantly livable. His interiors are free of excess and useless items instead they are full of comfort looking items.
