unusual color combination, pink and navy blue, Steven Grambrel

Nothing transforms a room more dramatically and for less money than fresh paint color.  And no, white paint doesn’t count unless you are starting off with a black painted room.  I love to see unusual paint color combinations that are unexpected and soothing at the same time.  As I’ve mentioned before there are a few Interior Designers that are exceptional at combining unique paint colors in a room.  On the top of the list is Muriel Brandolini, she knows how to come up with unexpected wall colors that are incredibly soothing and one of a kind.  Another one on the list is Steven Gambrel who can also create never seen before paint color combinations.  See for yourself, below are the most unique and beautiful rooms painted in one of a kind color combos.

unusual color combination, toupe, ecru and browns, muriel brandolini

Living room designed by Muriel Brandolini.  The walls are covered in a fabric she designed for Holland & Sherry in a color that can miraculously be every color from taupe, pink or even brown depends on the hour of the day.  She paired this beautiful color with touches of ecru, yellow, browns and honey and makes everything looks like a warm degradation of colors.

Pink tablecloth on a round table skirt in Janet de Botton's home

Live beautiful is this blog’s most recent post category in which I’ll be posting about how to live beautifully in a more precise way and with details.  Today, we start with how to soften up any space with a skirted table.  Regardless of the shape of the table, round, square, or rectangular covering it with a tablecloth can dramatically transform any space.  From your makeup vanity to the inexpensive table that can serve you as a T.V. stand, they can all be enhanced with a table skirt.

In the case of a T.V. table, for example, the skirt can also hide storage underneath-all that unpleasant but, necessary electric cord, cable boxes, and remotes, can be hidden behind a very tailored, ideally custom-made table skirt.  The design detail can go with any home decor, from traditional to modern.  As a matter of fact, many modern Interior Designers are fans of a skirted table.

soutern living idea home, facade

This year’s Southern Living Magazine Idea House was built from the ground up in the Crane Island, Florida, 14 miles from Fernandina Beach.  The house is absolutely gorgeous, Interiors designed by Heather Chadduck Hillegas, Architecture by Historical Concepts’ Jim Strickland and Clay Rokicki, and construction by Riverside Custom Homes.  The decoration inside is elegant and classic but entirely livable with an emphasis on All American beauty.  I can move into this house and not change a thing.

It took me more than usual to upload all these images, but they are all so worthy that I wanted to make sure I wouldn’t leave one out.  The house has a resemblance to the Something’s Gotta Give’s house, but with a bit more on the classic modern side, with lots of browns, dark blue, ceiling beams, classic or antique furniture throughout and printed fabrics and wallpaper.  Read more about it at Southern Living Magazine.

quinta da comporta villa

We got back from the south last Friday, and you may think that while heading north temperatures would get more chill, but the opposite was true.  Temperatures across the US are scorching hot, and although many still decide to not believe in Global Warming, it’s something to think about, to say the least.  In the ideal world, the government would believe science, and we would all be in this fight together.  On the other side of the world; however, there are still places that do everything with sustainability in mind and all without sacrificing style.  Case in point Quinta Da Comporta: Wellness Boutique Resort is a sustainable signature project envisioned and designed by renowned Portuguese architect, Miguel Câncio Martins.

David-Kelinberg-design-bellevivir

We’ve been driving south for a week now.  Our first stop was in Charleston, then Savannah and now we are in Palm Beach.  Yes, we need to learn to take shorter vacations.  When driving around PB we saw many mansions that reminded me of this home designed by David Kleinberg which I posted two years ago.  Enjoy and I’ll be back to post regularly once back home.  Hope you are enjoying the summer.

David Kleinberg Design in Palm Beach dining room

This Spanish Style home in Palm Beach, designed by David Kleinberg exudes a modern sophistication rooted in the classics that stands the test of time.  Traditional coffered ceilings take a modern turn with geometric shapes in cypress wood, in many of the graciously spacious rooms, traditional line furniture get an up-to-date feeling with shimmery and leather upholstery fabrics. David Kleinberg’s design has a great modern take on traditional Interior Design and I always get very excited to see his work.  David has worked with these clients before, so many of the furniture fit seamlessly in this new home.  There are many reasons why working with an Interior Designer is a good idea and choosing the right furniture that can be passed on though generations is one of them.  David redid the entryway by replacing the iron railing and honing the limestone floor.  The entry of this Palm Beach estate is actually my favorite part of the house for its modern interpretation of classic elements.

The entry way is a spectacular showstopper.  The graphic floor in geometry shapes is a master piece.

global chic, eclectic decor, Martina Mondadori

Global Chic is a design style that mixes furniture, textiles, and accessories from different parts of the world.  The eclectic design style combines all these foreign or ethnic influences in a sophisticated way.  Design elements with traditional tribal patterns like Ikat fabric and Tibetan rugs are some of the forces found in this somewhat well-traveled look style.  The strongest aspect of the global chic style is that it makes the space appears as if it was designed over time with collections from the owners’ many travels.   The very distinctive style indeed reflects the homeowners’ sense of style and global lifestyle.
