Simon Pillard and Philippe Rosetti, two Paris-based designers spent a week covering this ikea kitchen island in legos.  With over 20,000 pieces of legos they certainly created something never seen before.  Quite unique and quite a task as well.  A perfect one to do with kids. Enjoy!

Humans could be very complex, you know?  We long for summer hot days only when our bodies are freezing during the cold days and once they arrive, all we wish is to stay inside under the divine, most needed A.C.  Who can really marry our eternal love for summer with our little tolerance for hot and humid days?  Last night we had to sleep without A.C because our little one was not feeling well, needless to say we did not have a decent sleep.  So, I was thinking how wonderful it would be to get to spend the summer days inside an Orangery like this one where you get to see and feel like/the outside while enjoying the coolness inside.  The owners of this heavenly looking orangery are Fawaz Gruosi and Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele and when I first saw it in this current issue of Elle Decor, the first thought that came to my mind was that it looks like it came out of a pure love story.  It’s romantically classy.  The owners hung framed dry leaves on the walls and the ceiling is frescoed to make it look like ivy.  The birdcages hanging from the ceiling add that final touch of romance. Sigh

Love the display of hats in the entrance.
My hubby told me a couple of weeks ago “Let’s go to Portugal”  and after seeing this vacation home I feel the urge.   This home designed by Marta Espregueira Mendes via Casa Tres Chic caught my attention due to its great combination of rustic and soft elements, classic kilim rugs and contemporary furniture.  The splashes of color throughout keeps the neutral tones of the stone walls, ceilings and floors alive.  Enjoy.

This open kitchen designed by David Kleinberg is a tropical-kitchen-setting-perfection.  The concrete counter top make it durable and low maintenance for a vacation home.  Having the everyday dishes at easy reach make daily activities much more light, easy and fun.  Below is my idea on designing a kitchen like this one to create a similar vibe without necessarily replicating it.  All you need is affordable art, a pair of swing arm sconces and a kitchen island with stools for your family and yourself to enjoy.

A tropical-looking art via, industrial swing arm sconces from, wine storage and kitchen island or console via and stools via.

I found these cute little creatures while searching for something else and I couldn’t resist post about them.   These stuffed leather animals are made in England by a company called Omersa.  They come in many different animal shapes and sizes, some as big as 6 feet tall therefore most of them are made to order.  They were very popular in the 60’s.  Very well constructed.  They are made inside with a wooden and metal frame which make them strong enough to take the weight of our bodies, then they’re covered in woodwool which gives them the desired shape and then finished with cowhide leather.  As consequence no two animals look the same.  Remember my obsession and disappointment with this Rhino?  I told him I was going to find one that fits all my needs one day.  I think I did and I might have changed directions too because look at that sheep…

Grasscloth wallpaper have come a long way since its retro time.  Long gone are the days when they were covering your grandmas’ living room in a mate-less refined finishes.  They continue to have the same organic elements in them such as made out of plant fiber typically dried out under the sun but they are all glam’d up now.  The modern versions of grasscloth wallpapers can now cover the walls of urban apartments and feel at home.  Phillip Jeffries has a great selection of those new shimmery wallpapers, some of them with beads that embellish them further.  Schumacher also has gorgeous ones that are also embroidered in scenery design.  Crezana Design’s Grasscloth Wallpapers are like a fantasy land from the most glamorous shimmery surfaces to embroidery ikat pattern ones that make me do victory dances every time I look at them.  Simply beautiful.  How not to love those designs.  Grasscloth wallpaper come in different texture and material such as raffia, seagrass, refine sisal, woven jute and paper weaves.
