I came across this Atico Madrileno (usually the top floor apartment with a roof terrace) yesterday while browsing Nuevo Estilo. This apartment surrounded by an indoor patio was renovated by Interior Decorator Pedro Rubio, unfortunately he doesn’t have a website to get lost in. The home owners who are frequent travelers asked for a dynamic home where they could enjoy different seating areas, bring in family pieces and display their travel collection. The result was a mixture of different styles and characters using classic and modern furniture with exotic African elements and central Asian textile (suzani). One of my favorite elements on Spanian Interiors is how they enhance or improve the architecture of rooms by incorporating such elements as modern panelings, lacquered walls, geometric painted floors and graphic sliding doors making rooms look more dynamic and interesting.

The cozy yet sophisticated library and family room. Those bookcases and those Amalfi Coast chairs really make the room.

The mirrored fireplace-wall contrasts with the adjacent modern paneling. Love how the use of the round cocktail table facilitates the flow.

The Wiggle Stool by Frank Gehry seems to blend in effortlessly with the tones of browns and grays in the living room.

The kitchen table used to be an ironing table and its now, together with the head fixture the focal point of the room.

The graphic sliding doors contrast the modern wood paneling. A modern architectural enhancing element that’s easy to replicate.

After my last post, posting something like this is actually daring. I don’t think the two of them can ever relate but I wanted to open the day with something more inspiring. Last week I made reference to the book of Madeleine Castaing which brought me back memories of this Paris flat designed collaboratively between Jacques Grange and its owner Agostinelli. This chic Parisian apartment, where Le Style Castaing can be appreciated at its best belongs to Prada executive Mathilde Agostinelli. You’ve probably seen it before since it was featured a few years ago in House & Garden. Its traditional furnishing is modernly displayed with colorful fabrics and modern pieces around the house. Castaing “Carrelage Castaing” carpet covers the entire apartment floor, making it a unified platform. The “Rayure Fleurie” fabric covers the walls in the master bedroom where a Lalanne table and stool are used (perhaps) as make-up station or writing desk(?) Because this house was featured in 2006 I wonder if it looks the same today. If I were Agostinelli I would not have changed a thing.

The urns on the mantle once belonged to Castaing.

Tom Scheerer's spectacular beach style, tom sheerer beach decor style living room

I posted a few times about Tom Scheerer’s spectacular beach style.  When I think of a long weekend the first thing that comes to my mind is a comfy beach house where to escape. Since we can’t go anywhere this weekend I can only dream of being in this gorgeous house designed by Tom Scheerer that has enchanted me since the first time I laid my eyes on it.  I love how the beauty of this house slowly reveals itself. As I keep looking at it I can notice the different colors and textures that at first are barely discernible due to the calmness in the colors. I also love how the playful patterns on the fabrics and wallpapers and the comfortable furniture make this house perfect for a family vacation home with a great degree of sophistication. As this house proves, a beach house doesn’t have to lack grandeur.

Have a happy 4th of July weekend!!!

Good Morning I hope you had a wonderful father’s day.  I came across these images of the New York City home of Emma Jane Pilkington, initially published in Vogue Living. Her dual upbringing, between Australia and Greenwich, Conn. can be seen translated into the mixture of glam and bohemian found in her Manhattan home.  Her Greenwich home is also very inspiring.

Pilkington sits on a Neoclassical inspired sofa.  The floors are painted to make them look like marquetry.
Since I mentioned before that I’m slowly working on my deck during my spare time, I have been searching for rooms that inspire me. I’m looking to create a more relaxing and cozy outdoor space; a place where we can hang out for hours without getting our backs twisted. This room has incredibly beautiful details that are eye catching such as the gorgeous arched ceilings,
de Gournay wallpaper, the many orchids displayed throughout, the simple and unusual black and blue floor tiles and I can go on and on. The only thing I would bring with me into this room is lots of pillows for those back iron chairs, an ottoman to put up my feet, a few books and drinks.
