Jenna Lyons’s Soho home featured in the December issue of T-Magazine is a sight of perfection.  She was eager to have a home as unique as possible so no one can ever replicate, again.  As it happened to be the case with her highly popular Brooklyn Brownstone which was more than copied by a few.  Even Samantha Cameron, the wife of then British Prime Minister David Cameron copied Jenna’s living room.  She recounted the story to T-Magazine of how surprised she was when visiting Cameron’s house.  Isn’t that funny… Well not this time.  This new home is a loft located in Soho, New York and is as unique as only a style setter like Jenna Lyons can do.  With the help of Interior Designer Meyer Davis the result is a mixture of modern and old, rustic and refined, polished and grand, furnished with exclusive designer label pieces.  I wish her home had been published before this post because it could’ve been a perfect example of a modern version of a collected home.  Sorry I had to mention it again… but I can’t help to point that out.  This apartment may not be easy to replicate but being as gorgeous as it is get ready to see it crowding your social fee.

Introducing La Belle House by Belle Vivir Blog

We recently purchased a house in a complete outdated condition inside, which mean the house is in a perfect Interior-Designer-State-Of-Mind… What we like more about it is the stone structure that resembles a lot the stone homes around Provence, France.  The house is located in a very strict area where everything done to the exterior needs to be of natural material so no plastic windows and no plastic siding.  I’m happy and ok with that, although the rules sometimes go too far as to limit us when it comes to choosing the type of windows.  For instance I would love to replace a few for steel casement windows but that wont’ be possible.  However, we are very exited with our remodeling which I might share in this blog, only if I can figure out a way to do that exclusively with subscribers.  I need to see how can that be possible… Never done it before.  The process of the house will not be public, thus only shared with those that sign up for follow ups from this specific post… I still need to come up with a name for the house but for now we’ll call it La Belle House…

I’m very happy and excited to share this endeavour with you…I hope you join us.  Looking forward…

Christopher Burch’s Hamptons beach house is the ideal American colorful style.  Christopher is Tory Burch’s ex-husband and founder of C-Wonder, and his quirky colorful style is embedded in the decor of the house which was decorated by Christopher Maya.

For some, this house is considered small and modest when compared to the sumptuous mansions that are usually found in the Hamptons, funny enough the house has 6,000 sq feet, 8 bedrooms and is sitting on 2.75 acres. Burch describes his style as “a very quirky sense of classicism.” Maya was able to interpret Christopher’s taste while toning down the bright color hues that characterize the owner’s popular store, C-Wonder.

steel casement windows, steel windows

Alfredo Paredes Manhattan home with stunning arched steel casement doors which make this space so spectacular.

I get so smitten every time I see a room with steel casement windows or doors, gladly they are getting more and more popular as we can see their beautiful presence in almost every design magazine issue lately.  I like to see them in all their different uses from windows to doors to kitchen cabinets to shower enclosure although, I have to say that they reign more when used as French patio doors.   After all, there are wood French patio doors and there are steel casement French patio doors with the last one being within its simplicity, extremely elegant and restrained.  Steel doors and windows look their best when used against clean concrete walls in more industrial or country settings but they can also look pretty seamless when used against stone walls.

Steel windows and doors are somewhat a kind of a design import from France where it has been used abundantly from Paris to the country side.

Pierre Yovanovitch Chateau in Provence Living room Belle Vivir Blog

Pierre Yovanovitch is an exceptional Interior Designer I have posted about, many times before.  In one of the posts was a sneak peek of his Chateau Fabrègues in Provence, where
his austere and minimalist, modernistic aesthetics are set inside a 17th-century old property.  Recently The WSJ Magazine featured the entire Chateau giving us a complete view of the property.  The eight year restoration project which started in 2009 when Yovanovitch purchased the estate, included the restoration of a handful of buildings on the deteriorated 990 acre property.  One of the buildings was the guesthouse La Ferme, a three floor building that was completely redone inside, taking three years to complete.  The landscape was designed by Louis Benech whose Gardens are appreciated in six continents.
