If you love your home but not so much the brick exterior? You can paint it. Painted brick exterior homes are timeless although popular these days. If you are into decorating and design, you might already be a fan of brick painted exteriors. If not, then you may convert by the end of this post after we go over our favorite three exterior colors to paint brick exteriors.
Painting the brick exterior of your home can be one of the easiest and most effective ways to transform an outdated home into an up-to-date breathtaking one. A newly painted exterior home can be a striking backdrop for its curb appeal. On the other hand, painting the exterior of your home can be costly if you hire a professional to do it. I know that many people like to try DIY, but I think that a mistake in trying to paint the exterior of your home yourself can be very costly. Mainly because once you paint, there is no return back to its original yellow or orange color. Painted bricks require more maintenance than a unpainted home for example. So take into consideration that the bricks may need to be repainted every few years to maintain color.
Another permanent way to get the white painted house look is by using a technique called Slurry. The white brick texture is not a paint but a colored mortar. The method is also called mortar for the same reason. The colored mortar is troweled over the exterior brick, and the result is a soft texture where the brick can subtly still be seen. I love how European it looks.
My favorite painted brick exterior paints.
White
One of the most popular exterior colors is white. Most people like white painted homes. That’s probably the reason why most houses sold are painted white. White painted homes are classic yet up-to-date. I love them with black steel windows and black doors.
Blue
Blue painted brick houses can be dramatic and modern at the same time. I love navy blue painted houses with white trim and a bright color painted door. This dark blue above can be archived by using Deep Royal 2061-10 by Benjamin Moore.
Grey
Since I love the color grey so much I think it brings the perfect balance between warm and cold to an exterior of a home. This one, in particular, is beautiful because it has a lot of blue in it. Sidewalk Gray 2133-60 can give you a similar look.
