You know it’s summer when it’s hot… regardless of what the calendar says. Summer started officially yesterday but it’s been feeling pretty hot in this town for over a week. And I’m very happy about that… The arrival of summer entails long days spent at the beach for some and at the swimming pool for most. I particularly prefere them in this order, the latter for use and the former for view. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good resort by the beach and all that comes along with it; cocktails, grilled seafood and people watching. Now when it comes to getting in the ocean and getting sticky sand all over my body, not so much. So I prefer “Le Piscine” which allows me to enjoy the water, the cocktails, the grilled seafood and the people watching whithout the sand. This year the swimsuit trends come with multiple references to past decades and with something interesting for everyone. The eternally classic one piece swimsuit is still the prefered choice for many while on the other hand, the one-piece bikini has gotten some upgrades such as a stylish high-waist. Bikini season has begun.

This year’s biggest trend is smocking, yes, it sounds like that habit that can kill you but, in this case is an embroidery technique we are all familiar with from fancy little girl dresses.
