From rustic to colorful, these are the 10 best kitchens of 2019. As it is usually the case every year, there were many beautiful and functional kitchens, however, some of them really stood out from the rest. I read somewhere that pewter and gunmetal finishes were predicted to be trends this year, yet we didn’t get to see many of them. As you’ll see in most of these popular kitchens, brass fixtures are still reigning sovereignty.
Best Colorful Kitchen
This colorful kitchen is small but it’s full of style and substance, plenty of storage, stone floor, and the right-sized island. The brass hardware and fixtures work as a jewel against the blue cabinets- design by Heidi Caillier.
Best Country Style Kitchen
I imagine that if I were to live in the countryside and owned a couple of horses this would be the kitchen I wanted. This country-style kitchen has a great balance between rustic and refinement. The detail of the baskets below the metal island softens up the brick floor. The home of Jacques Erasmus.
Best Industrial One
The best industrial kitchen was designed by the talented designer Nam Dang-Mitchell based in Calgary, Canada. Nan is known for her European-inspired design that is injected with a modern sensibility and great craftsmanship. She recently completed the new construction of four New York City-inspired townhouses and this is one of the kitchens. I love the contrasting lower cabinets against the island’s lighter wood color, the plaster walls and the half-wall backsplash, which latter detail I declared as the biggest trend this year back in this post.
Best Organic One
This kitchen screams casualness and purity. Designed by Monique Gibson, it was featured this year in AD and I fell for it instantly. It has white-painted brick walls that contrast with the rest of the black cabinets and black steel casement windows and doors. The floating shelves provide easy access to daily items.
Best Modern Kitchen
Athena Calderon‘s kitchen was the talk of the town this year and for a good reason. This Brooklyn townhouse was transformed into the perfect modern home for Athena and her family. The kitchen has no upper cabinets, dark wood, and white marble countertop. The island is massive, and the modern stools complement the whole design perfectly.
Best European Style
OMG, this kitchen. I feel that I can sleep, dream, and do everything in this kitchen. The best European-inspired kitchen I’ve seen this year. Everything from the stone floor, to the massive range hood, the subdued cabinetry, represent the European aesthetic. This kitchen was designed by Amber Interiors.
Best Farm Style
Another fabulous and simple but exceptionally done kitchen. I named it Farm kitchen because of the texture we can find throughout. Nothing in this kitchen screams, yet; everything is so harmonious and balanced. Lots of clever storage to provide functionality and organization because who doesn’t want an organized, functional kitchen? The dark herringbone floor stands out on its own. La Cornue range is the star and main protagonist of this kitchen – design by Eric Olsen.
Best White Kitchen
I know that homeowners are super obsessed with the white kitchen, and this one is just a dream. It’s traditional in color but modern in layout and details such as the absence of upper cabinets, floating shelves, and a waterfall island — design by Lindsey Brooke Design.
Best Christmas Decorated
This kitchen is not new to many, but it’s one that is perfect for entertaining and parties. Love the garland cascading down the double-height windows and of course, the fabulous classic checkered floor.
Best Cottage-Inspired Kitchen
And yes, I’m totally biased on this one because I chose my own design as the best Cottage-Inspired kitchen. You can see more of this kitchen here. My client, who lives here in Columbus, Ohio, was thrilled and super happy with the result of her newly renovated kitchen. As she said to me, ” it was exactly what I always wanted”. Kitchen designed by Julie Paulino Design.
