Housework is something you either love or hate, but however you feel about it, it still has to be done. Some people like it so much that they clean others people’s home for a living. Everyone wants to be a perfect host when they are welcoming people to their home. Here are a few tips to help to create a cozy atmosphere so that your guests immediately feel at home in your place:
CREATE AN INVITING GUEST ROOM: With a little elbow grease and a dose of creativity, you can offer an inviting guestroom. Creating a cozy atmosphere is easy with soft blankets and scented candles. Stock the nightstand with everything that you would want in your own room. Examples include a vase of fresh flowers, magazines that highlight the best food and drink of your local area, a night light, hand cream, bottled waters, and snacks.
STOCK THE KITCHEN: Before your guest arrives, be sure to ask them about any dietary needs or preferences. Taking the time to stock your kitchen with all of their favorites will go a long way in making them comfortable in your home. When they arrive, be sure to show them around the kitchen so that they know where to find everything. The last thing that you want is for your guest to feel uncomfortable having to ask the host for everything. Making them feel welcome to help themselves to anything in the kitchen will assist in making them to feel comfortable and not intrusive.
Dries Van Noten is one of my favorite fashion designers. He is the master of sophisticated prints. His creations masterfully merge traditional prints with modern silhouettes. Consequently Dries Van Noten’s beautiful Belgian home should not come as a surprise. The Neoclassical home, located in Lier, close to the cıty of Antwerp was build in the 1840’s and was decorated with the help of interior designer Gert Voorjans.
The house is furnished with beautiful antiques that were collected from markets in Brussels and Paris. The patterned textiles throughout the house is a definite nod to Van Noten’s love of pattern and exotic graphics.
The 55-acre park surrounding the mansion was converted into a breath-taking garden by Landscape Architect Erick Dhont. Dries’ other passion is gardening and by looking at the images below, he does an amazing job.
They are forecasting cold temperatures with snow for this weekend, so it’s time to be creative to stay warm. If you do it right, you may even be able to get away with sweaters and ditch the coat, as in the first picture below. The secret of layering clothes well is to start with thermals for the first layer, keep the first and second layer tight enough and keep adding more loose pieces as cardigans. Finish off the layered attire with big scarves, jackets or coats.
We’re taking a trip to the home’s exterior, to take a closer look at one of the most important parts of creating and preserving its curb appeal: the garden. If you’re getting concerned about all things environmental, it might be surprised that one of the greenest spaces can cause the most damage. Here, we’re going to look at some of the lousy gardening habits to get rid of, and how you can do it a little greener.
Saint-Tropez has been a famous jet-setters’ spot since the late 1950s. Names such as Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin were typical holidaymakers of the glorious black and white summer shots – and some were even residents. Nowadays, you’re more likely to spot celebrities such as Kate Moss, Elton John, Beyonce or even Leonardo DiCaprio in Saint-Tropez.
